Shanghai Veggie Club was founded in April 2010 by Alexa Chiang, tired of always having to compromise dinning in a normal restaurant, she posted an ad online to seek some fellow vegetarians who could share the meal with her. So the club basically started as a private dinning group, until there are more and more people joining and it’s hard to manage it just by emails. Annie Taylor Chen joined the club in Sep 2010, and she initiated the idea of having a website where people can easily see the announcement and share the information of being a vegetarian in Shanghai. Besides organizing events, we also do consulting and advice for people who travel to Shanghai as they have specific diet preference. Due to our effort, more and more restaurants are starting to offer vegetarian options and Cityshop also starts to import vegan butter and cheese.Local media also gave us some coverage on our events.This year, hopefully with our effort, more and more people will join our events and try delicious vegetarian dishes. We are glad to share a few pix of our past events, not shown here, we also had dinners at Jujube Tree, Lucky Zen and Veg, Melange Oasis, Anna Maya, Madison etc and hosts included Ignatious Lau and Nancy Lewis and other volunteers.
